Rainbow Collaborative Coaching

Hello!
I'm Val, and I'm passionate about making learning about executive function accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Here's a bit about my journey so far:

My Story
Education
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and a Master's in Arts, focusing on English and Cultural Studies. My journey in education continued with a Bachelor's in Education and a Post-graduate certificate in Inclusive Education. I also received specialized training as an Executive Function Specialist Coach.
Experience Before Coaching
My diverse background includes teaching, from swimming lessons to undergraduate tutorials, and serving as both a classroom and Inclusive Education teacher in the public education system in British Columbia. I've been involved in community tutoring programs and worked in roles related to social work, supporting under-resourced youth. Additionally, I've gained invaluable insights from working in the service industry, where I had the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life.
Personal Background
I've always had a passion for helping others understand concepts and solve problems. In high school, I often found myself assisting classmates over MSN, while racing to finish my own assignments. As a cisgender white woman who grew up in a middle-class background, I've navigated challenges related to my neurodivergence, queer identity, and disability.
In my late 20s, I began uncovering and understanding my own neurodivergence, shedding light on years of misconceptions about myself. This realization fueled my commitment to creating a supportive environment, especially in terms of executive function, which I wished I had in my younger years.
My beliefs strongly align with the social model of disability and an anti-oppression approach. I bring these values into my work, striving to create an inclusive space where everyone can thrive. Let's embark on this learning journey together!
